Monday, Dec. 11:  IN PERSON, THE HARBERT CENTER. Birmingham City Councilor, Crystal Smitherman.  We have not heard from Crystal before.  She received her Bachelor’s degree, with honors, in 2015 from Hampton University and her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2019. In January of 2019, while still in law school, Crystal was appointed to a sixth district vacancy on the Birmingham City Council, and has since been elected to a full term.  For the past two years, she was President Pro Tem of the Council.  She now chairs the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Public Improvements and Beautification Committee. She practices law with her father, State Senator Rodger Smitherman, at the Smitherman Law Firm.  She is in the current class of Leadership Birmingham.
